On September 6, 2024, Synergy Ocean Maritime Inc. (SOMI) hosted the annual SOMINAR—an event whose name combines “SOMI” and “seminar”—in Hai Phong City, Vietnam. This marked the second SOMINAR held in Hai Phong, following the previous event held on October 5, 2023. This year’s SOMINAR focused on enhancing seafarers’ skills and strengthening the relationship between the crew and management. The theme, “Implementing Company Procedures for Incident-Free Ship Operation,” underscored SOMI’s commitment to safety and operational excellence. Held at The Pearl River Hotel & Apartments, the event brought together 51 senior and junior officers, staff from VINIC, a Vietnam-based manning company, and notable visitors.
The SOMINAR provided comprehensive training on key maritime topics, including safety protocols, risk assessment, fuel management, and compliance with industry regulations. Key speakers from SOMI led discussions that delved into practical experiences and the real-world challenges faced onboard. Interactive sessions using real-life scenarios encouraged lively discussions and evaluations, aimed at developing the most effective solutions. The learning experience was further enhanced with engaging group activities and team-building games, creating a dynamic and collaborative atmosphere.
The day concluded with a Gala Dinner, offering a joyous end to the event. Officers and their families enjoyed an evening filled with socializing, delicious food, and lively performances. This gathering not only celebrated the day’s achievements but also strengthened the bonds between the VINIC manning staff and the ship’s crew, fostering a sense of community and mutual understanding.
